I discovered Zentangle through a local mixed-media art store in Maryland, but it wasn’t until I retired that I was finally able to take my first Intro class—and I was immediately hooked. From there, I immersed myself in every in-person class, retreat, and local tangling opportunity I could find.
For many years, I was the kind of student who followed instructions exactly as taught. Over time, I grew comfortable adapting projects to suit my own preferences, which deeply shaped both my personal practice and my teaching style. I’ve always been drawn to structure—grids, borders, repetitive patterns, and traditional Zentangle designs. While I’m no longer a tiny tangler, my motto remains: “Grids are life.” Lately, my favorite organic pattern has been Yolo.
I unapologetically use pencils, rulers, and erasers, believing that art should make the artist happy. My teaching approach reflects this philosophy: projects that are approachable, clearly explained, and enjoyable to follow. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel relaxed, not rushed or frustrated—something I value deeply from my own learning journey.
While Zentangle was never intended to become a business, I am grateful for the success of my online Tangled Seasons series and continue as long as the joy remains. I’m also excited to host my first in-person retreat in Arizona in April 2026.
I don’t maintain a mailing list; the best way to stay connected is through my ZentAngie Facebook page or by visiting my website.

I discovered Zentangle in 2014 while attending a spiritual retreat during a time when I felt something was missing in my life. That “something” turned out to be art—specifically Zentangle. After being introduced to the practice by fellow attendee and future CZT Judy Englehart, I was hooked from day one and soon began attending classes and retreats together.
With a background as an art major and a master’s degree in counseling, Zentangle became the perfect intersection of creativity, mindfulness, and connection. I studied with Angela Werner and Meredith Yuhas and became certified with no initial intention to teach. That changed when I was invited to teach through Hartford Hospital’s Art for Healing Program, supporting cancer survivors and caregivers—where I realized Zentangle was exactly the work I had been moving toward all along.
My teaching style blends mindfulness, compassion, and gentle structure. I emphasize process over perfection, teaching from the heart and allowing space for intuition. Zentangle is a daily practice for me, much like prayer or yoga, and has profoundly changed my life for the better.
I am drawn to organic and floral patterns and currently teach regularly through hospitals, municipalities, universities, art leagues, corporations, and my own online and in-person classes. I also co-facilitate art exhibits and support groups, and organize an annual in-person retreat with fellow CZTs. Looking ahead, I’m excited to expand my teaching and integrate Zentangle into my newly certified life and health coaching practice.programs for artists of all ages and skill levels. From workshops and classes to artist residencies and exhibitions, we have something for everyone.

Dive into the vibrant world of Patty Duffy, a Certified Zentangle Teacher and award-winning artist who transforms Florida’s wildlife and sea life into whimsical creations! Her art blends anatomically correct(ish) forms with bold, vibrant colors, intricate repeating patterns, and delicate shading to create pieces that sparkle with life. Using translucent inks and fine-tipped pens like Sakura Pigma Microns, Patty handcrafts each large-scale drawing over months, often weaving hidden words of love and affirmation into her designs for an extra touch of magic. Originally from New England and now living in Indian River County, Florida, Patty’s lifelong passion for making marks on paper comes alive in her sunny studio. Her iconic piece, Big Papa Kevin the gator, stole hearts and snagged an award at the Cocoa Beach Juried Art Show, proving her knack for turning nature into art that captivates.

I first discovered Zentangle in 2011 after spotting it on Pinterest and later hearing a friend rave about a Zentangle class. That spark reignited my curiosity and led me to become a Certified Zentangle Teacher as a complementary modality to my Yoga Therapy practice.
With no local instructors nearby, I began my journey through One Zentangl
I first discovered Zentangle in 2011 after spotting it on Pinterest and later hearing a friend rave about a Zentangle class. That spark reignited my curiosity and led me to become a Certified Zentangle Teacher as a complementary modality to my Yoga Therapy practice.
With no local instructors nearby, I began my journey through One Zentangle A Day by Beckah Krahula and developed a deep love for sacred geometry, mandalas, and repeating patterns—elements that strongly influence both my artwork and teaching.
My favorite patterns include Shattuck and big, bold Mookas, and I’m especially drawn to using Zentangle as a meditative, centering practice. My work has been published in two books, featured on a downtown Harrisonburg traffic box, and shared internationally through teaching in Dubai, Singapore, and India, with Bangkok scheduled for 2026.
I am passionate about sharing Zentangle as a mindful, meditative art form and look forward to continuing to teach both in the U.S. and around the world.

Love2Tangle retreats are intentionally designed, immersive Zentangle experiences where meditative drawing, collaboration, and thoughtful pacing come together to create meaningful transformation-not just finished tiles.
Our retreat is intentionally designed as a complete experience-from the moment you arrive to the final shared mosaic. Each session builds on the last, allowing the Zentangle meditative drawing method to unfold slowly, thoughtfully and meaningfully.
Like the lens of a kaleidoscope, individual patterns, perspectives, and moments come together to create something greater than any single piece.
This retreat is for those who:
Value immersion over hustle
Appreciate collaboration over competition
Want time to truly sink into the Zentangle process.
